your father was

a bastard

Divided into 3 distinct sections—‘one for each of his sons’—this telling verse memoir is an unflinching look at the intersection between toxic masculinity, intergenerational trauma, domestic violence and so-called Australian identity. In total, it is 50000 words.

Blurb: When Tim returns home to rural NSW for Christmas 2019, he senses danger. Fires engulf the South East Coast and burnt leaves rain from the sky. But when an argument over housing prices and smashed avocados erupts into a Christmas Eve fistfight, his splintered family is forced to face a single truth: their legacy is violence.

Tim received considerable support from this project, including a Wheeler Centre next chapter fellowship, varuna residential fellowship and a melbourne city arts grant. numerous extracts have been published widely throughout Australia.

those bloody

animals

Set in a small town ravaged by fire and floods, Those Bloody Animals is a lyrical meditation on who we are, who we were, and what we can become in the aftermath, interrogating themes of intergenerational violence, eco-politics and rural masculinity in Australia. completed, this work of eco-literary fiction will be 85000 words.

blurb: Poppy, Ray’s dog, has gone missing and Ray blames Frank, the local publican. Frank is adamant that Ray needs to move on, not only from Poppy but from the death of Ray’s wife, Grace—and Frank will do anything to make that happen. Accompanied by Kendy, Poppy’s companion, Ray contends with the devastations of fire—the loss of land, livelihood, and companionship—and a past that threatens to consume them all.

Tim has received considerable support to develop this novel, including a writing space fellowship and an Australian council for the arts grant.
